Virginia Messick was an Air Force cadet on a base in San Antonio. Her superior officer, and the one who she reports to, assaulted her. She was frightened of telling the truth, and she was frightened of keeping it a secret.
I’m sure that no matter what profession we discuss, these types of things have sadly happened. And we don’t take these things lightly. This was an officer of our military, someone who is charged to PROTECT us. Yet he put his disgusting desires above protecting. Would he do the same thing overseas? Put his wants and sick behaviors above protecting people? How many others are out there like him?
I’m not sure that there is even a solution to any of this. There are bad people in this world, and victims of awful situations. And now women are being sent to the front lines with the men. Will that make a difference? For bad or for good? Will more situations like this arise because of those new situations? Time will probably tell, and I always hope things will get better.
