Most scientists now agree that global warming is a fact. I think we need to get past the idea of trying to disprove global warming or find another way to explain the rapid temperature changes we are seeing. The fact of the matter is that we are releasing millions of tons of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere every year. Whether this is the major cause of global warming or not, I believe that it can’t be in any way good for the environment to do so. Although most scientific research shows that it is in fact the major cause for global warming.

We need to do whatever we can as a population to slow down the release of these chemicals into the air to help prevent the major flooding disasters in the future. Ice sheets are melting so quickly that the Arctic is expected to have an ice free summer by 2040. The sea level has risen 7 inches in the last 100 years. At this rate the 100 million people that are living within 3 feet of the ocean’s sea level are in dire need to evacuate soon. Either the ocean will come up to destroy their homes or they will be in an extremely flood prone area.

I think the most important thing we can do is to prevent greenhouse gases from entering our atmosphere. Even if they aren’t a direct cause for global warming, it will only help the environment to remove these gasses from the atmosphere. We need to do more research and learn about ways to prevent the earth from warming at such an alarming rate.
