Details in a Save the Children report inform us on challenges that Syrian Civilians must confront.18 areas across the country has been defined as besieged which means that there are armed forces blocking aid delivery and freedom of movement.

Children make up at least a quarter-million of the people who are cut off from the world. Malnourished children are eating animal feed and leaves.

The report stated, “They and their families are cut off from the outside world, surrounded by warring groups that illegally use siege against civilians as a weapon of war, preventing food, medicine, fuel, and other vital supplies from entering and stopping people from fleeing.”

It is so disheartening to read about these issues and knowing there is not much we can do about it other than helping the refugees who have already fled and donating to the UN or International Rescue Committee.
