For the last few years, Japan has been trying to tae advantage of the nuclear power industry. They introduced new safety standards and have been trying to have all the operable reactors to follow these standards, although only a small amount of them have so far. The public is still pretty wary about these moves, and there were many happy Japanese citizens when a Japanese court ordered a nuclear power plant to be shut down on Wednesday. The country currently only has two nuclear power plants, and this one was ordered to shut down due to meltdowns and safety malfunctions. Nuclear power certainly isn’t something to be taken lightly or to try and expand so quickly without taking the proper safety measures. Although the people don’t seem too excited, the government seems adamant to keep trying to move forward. It will be interesting to see what Japan’s nuclear future holds.
