This weekend a bomb went off at a park in Pakistan killing at least 69 people. The attack has been linked back to Jamaat-e-Ahrar, a faction of the Pakistani Taliban. It is thought that the attack was specifically targeting Christians who were celebrating Easter at a local park. This is the third bombing in Pakistan this month. The Jamaat-e-Ahrar stated that the purpose of this bombing was to “give a message to government that it cannot deter us even in their stronghold, Lahore.” With a lot of emphasis being put on ISIS it seems that many groups, like the Jamaat-e-Ahrar, are trying to prove that they are still relevant.
