On a personal note, the travel ban is separating lovers. Visas that took years to attain are being cancelled and rejected. A temporary suspension of Trump’s immigration order is the only thing saving relationships all over the world. Marriages are being cancelled, kids are learning to accept a computer screen as a father, and hearts are breaking because of what looks like permanent separation. One particular story is of Syrian Dr. Almilaji who is stranded in Turkey away from his wife because his return visa for his professional visit is no longer valid. He compared the injustice to when he was captured and tortured during the civil war. He said that what his wife is suffering because of the sudden separation is worse. At what point does the ban cross the line? Is the protection Trump is going for worth what we are doing to families?
