The city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates has decided to forgo the traditional taxi option and the Uber model that’s taking markets by storm, instead going with a commuter drone. These drones will be available as early as July for commercial use within the city. Here’s the kicker – this model doesn’t only skip the taxis. It skips the roads. These drones fly.
Dubai’s sheikh has predicted that over a quarter of travel in the city will be done by driverless drones by the year 2030. The city is on the cutting edge of transportation technology as they have also experimented recently with driverless cars and a tunnel tube from Abu Dhabi to Dubai.
