During his Supreme Court confirmation hearings in the Senate, Judge Neil M. Gorsuch assured lawmakers he would not rule according to partisan politics. Several senators were concerned that because President Trump nominated him, Judge Gorsuch would feel obligated to rule in favor of the President’s political leanings.
“I have offered no promises,” Judge Gorsuch responded. He also said that no one from the White House has asked him to make any commitments on legal issues. When asked by Senator Leahy of Vermont if he would be able to hold President Trump accountable, Judge Gorsuch responded that, “no man is above the law.”
