While men still dominate the percentage of the population of Norway that enjoys hunting as a past time, there has been a significant increase in women picking up trifles and hunting down trophies of their own. There has been a 60% increase in the number of female hunters in the last year, and the women have some interesting reasons as to why they have picked up the sport. Some of them say it’s because they want their children to understand that their food comes from more than just the supermarket, and others say it’s because this new generation of women is independent and wants to do everything men want to do. Whatever it is, it seems to be working since the country now has a female-only hunter’s club.
I think it’s an interesting development and there isn’t anything wrong with women knowing how to handle a gun or find their own food. I wonder if the trend will continue and spread to other countries as well.
