Last week, North Korea tested another rocket engine, but this time it was a little bit different. According to Korean officials, they were testing the engine to get them to the moon, something that a lot of the world was able to accomplish decades ago. They claimed that the engine tested produces thrust equivalent to the rockets that massive american aerospace companies are using. After reading this, I was extremely skeptical and I’m sure that almost every American who read this article was as well. I almost found it laughable. There is another element to this this though that many will find not so funny that was brought to light by United States intelligence at the beginning of this year. These government officials in North Korea could not be telling the truth. All of these preparations for a lunar landing could just be a cover. There reportedly North Korean plans for a nuclear strike on Washington or New York. If it has the power that officials claim it has, this rocket engine that was tested last week may have the ability to strike heavily populated cities in the eastern United States such as New York and Washington. I honestly am not sure what to think about North Korea and its missile testing. On the one hand, I think that North Korea is a ticking time bomb that could at any moment launch a nuclear strike that would claim the lives of thousands if not millions and probably cause retaliation and divisions in many of the world powers. On the other hand though, I could see all of this as a ploy to put North Korea in the world spotlight and flex its muscles. It’s possible that North Korea deep down has no intentions to start a war because they know that it would have dire consequences on the world as a whole and North Korea itself. I think that as of this moment I am more inclined to believe the second one, but if North Korea keeps ramping up its nuclear tests and threats against people, maybe they will be ignorant enough to go on the offensive.
